F4000 return for Trengove at Oran Park
F4000 competitors be warned: Paul Trengove is back and ready to race…
After having to sit out the Winton round of the championship due to a lack of funding, Paul Trengove will make his
F4000 return this weekend with the current points leaders of the F4000 series, team Ralt Australia.
Trengove raced with the Graham Watson run team at the opening round of the championship, and finished a strong
second behind round winner Neil McFayden despite missing the opening practice session because of a last minute
call up to the team.
Suffice to say, Trengove is looking forward to the round.
"I’m really looking forward to racing with Ralt Australia this weekend,” he said. “I’ve been given a great opportunity
by Graham Watson and hopefully I can repay him with some great results.”
The South Australian based driver said that the current situation was all too similar to last season, where despite
missing the opening round of the F4000 series, he only missed out on the F4000 championship by a small margin.
"Missing Round 2 of the championship was devastating for me, because last year we had to miss a round for budget
reasons as well and it cost me the Championship. Its unlikely I can win the Gold Star again this year so all I can do
this weekend is show my competitiveness and have some strong results."
The third round of the series will be held at Sydney’s Oran Park raceway this weekend, F4000 action returning to
the Narellan circuit after a year’s absence.
"I haven’t raced at Oran Park since 2002, and I have only driven in F4000 once this year, so to expect a win is
perhaps ambitious.” Commented Paul. “I really think if I can find my feet early in the car though I'll definitely be a
chance for the win."
And while his focus is firmly on success at Oran Park, Paul realises that there will be a lot of hard work needed if he
is to have any shot at winning the prestigious Gold Star award in 2004.
"Hopefully this wont be my last race of the year,” He said. “I’m trying very hard to find sponsorship, but it is very
difficult to do in the current economic climate. I really am aiming to compete in as many races as I can this year,
and I really want to be a part of F4000 racing in China."
The entire Ralt Australia #11 Reynard is available for potential sponsorship opportunities for the remainder of 2004.
All sponsors of the F4000 series are gaining excellent exposure via the new TV Deal with the popular ‘Speedweek’
program on SBS, and also on FOX Sports.
The 15-car Holden Australian Drivers championship field takes the starter in two challenging races this Sunday, June
27.
