Trengove
Wants to Win on Home Soil
Round 5 of the Australian
Driver’s Championship heads to the South Australian circuit at Mallala
Raceway, where the nations fastest young-guns are preparing for the fiercest
battle yet.
There are 5 drivers who can win
this years coveted Gold Star Award and amongst them is local driver Paul
Trengove, racing at the circuit for the first time since he raced in Formula
Vee.
Trengove is situated in 4th
place, only 1 point behind 2nd position and within striking distance
of New Zealand’s Nelson Hartley, who leads this year’s Championship. Having
missed Round 1, the CPA Australia team has so far performed very consistently,
finishing on the podium at every event they have competed in.
“It has been very tough coming
from a long way behind in the Championship, but the CPA Australia team have done
a great job in making this car fast and reliable whilst I was still finding my
feet.”
“We proved we had good speed at
Winton and we got quicker in every session. Mallala is a track that I know best
and it’s the first time I’ve raced there in a car this big and powerful.
I’d really love to have my first race win on home soil and get closer to the
front of the Championship.”
The CPA Australia team tested last
Tuesday and put in some competitive times on some very old tyres.
The team will hit the track on
Friday 29th August for first practice, Saturday for Qualifying and
will race twice on Sunday.
