Australian Institute of Sport - Young Drivers' Training Camp

Hi guys, its Paul Trengove here. I’m at work, incredibly bored, so I thought I would write about an exciting new update that is happening in my racing career.

I recently found out that I am lucky enough to have been selected by CAMS to attend a 3 day Youth Training Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra during June. This is a very exciting opportunity for me to meet other young drivers from across the country and to take part in some extensive training designed for the ‘elite athlete’ (a motor racing driver).

This course will involve many specialists providing lectures to the group on both psychological topics such as motivation, media training and reaction testing as well as physiological topics, such as maintaining a nutritional diet and how to condition and strengthen important muscle groups in the body for racing. There will also be physical testing including skin fold tests, aerobic workouts and others.

This opportunity is one that I am very excited about and am hopeful to learn as much as I can from the lecturers and other drivers. It’s great to see CAMS are recognising the importance of teaching young drivers both physical and mental aspects of racing at the top level and I am very grateful to be given this opportunity to attend. I will post an article on this event when I return.

Seeya!
